Ron Jaworski: The ‘CEO-Quarterback’ on Leadership, Commitment and Teamwork

Go out thinking you’re going to complete every pass!

Ron Jaworski, ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback, believes that positive thinking is the key to success.

That positive thinking creates the commitment that you need to succeed.

Jaworski has used what he learned on the football field in his motivational presentations, charitable work, golf businesses, and life in general.

He learned from each of his football coaches:

  • First coach: Commitment. You need to be committed to winning 24/7 365.
  • Second coach: Hard work and discipline. As a leader, you need discipline to set others up for success.
  • Third coach: Teamwork.
  • Last coach: Trust. Need to trust the people on your team, so surround yourself with people you trust.

Accelerent—Phoenix

The Phoenix division of Accelerent is the area’s leading business development organization, and Benefit Commerce Group is proud to be the Title Sponsor of this division. At breakfast events throughout the year, guests invited by members of Accelerent hear from nationally-recognized speakers and experts like Ron Jaworski.

Lessons Learned from Ron Jaworski

As a sports broadcaster, he learned no-brainer principles:

  • You must like people. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
  • Lead by example
  • Do the little things (pay attention to the details)
  • Create an atmosphere where people like working together: positivity, energy, empowerment
  • Be sincere, be honest: integrity
  • Bring energy to the workplace
  • Build relationships, get to know people
  • Define the goal, delegate responsibility, and lead

BCG’s 10th Annual Employee Benefits Benchmarking Survey/Employee Wellbeing

During opening remarks at the event, Scott Wood, Managing Partner and Principal of Benefit Commerce Group (BCG), reminded attendees of the 2023 10th Annual AZ Employee Benefits Benchmarking Survey, conducted by BCG. This program is designed specifically for mid-sized employers to compare their benefits against other employers in Arizona, regionally and nationally.

Employers who participate in the survey will be invited to attend the Results Seminar at the AZ Biltmore on June 8th for a review of benchmarking data, current trends in benefits, and a guest speaker on accessing top performing doctors to achieve better healthcare at lower costs. Those participating in the survey also will receive individual reports to help identify:

  • Where they are ahead of the competition
  • Where they need to be stronger
  • And how to save money and bring benefit innovations into their program

The BCG team also can drill down to even more detailed results for employers, to get a fuller view of how their benefits stack up to their competitors here in Arizona and across the nation.

Employee Wellbeing

One of the topics that will be discussed at the June 8th Benchmarking Results Seminar is Employee Wellbeing. Scott Wood emphasized that it is not enough for employers to talk about wellbeing; employers need to be authentic and “walk the walk” to support their employees and lead by example.
