Last year, through this same program, we relieved medical debt for 1,490 individuals in Maricopa County…for a total of $1.5 MILLION in debt.
RIP Medical Debt is an amazing organization that is able to leverage our contributions to wipe out $100 in debt for every dollar we donate.
They identify individuals and families with outstanding healthcare-related bills, and they purchase the debts for those most in need in bundled portfolios for a fraction of their face value. That is how one dollar donated relieves $100 of medical debt on average.
Founded by two former debt collectors, RIP Medical Debt has purchased medical debt in more than 200 cities located in 35 counties across the country.
