Our Claims Advocate Saves Members Hundreds of Dollars on Lab Costs

The Challenge:
Our clients' members were being balance billed due to the PCP sending them to out-of-network labs. In one case, the member was being billed for almost $300 for preventive lab services. In another case, the non-network lab was balance billing the member over $800.

The Solution:

After trying first to work with the ordering physician, our Claims Advocate contacted the lab supervisor in each case to negotiate directly with them.

We negotiated a write off with the provider. Individual members saved $300 and $700 in out-of-pocket expenses in these two cases.
